Mikey was seven last week. We loved hearing him sing. He’s been wishing everyone a happy birthday since . He knows how old he is – such a great developmental step! It’s a year since his ASD diagnosis and it’s been a year of great progress. I’m extremely proud of him.
Dan has developed a total love of watching football. On Saturday he said to me, “I hope they play Welbeck”, and I knew at that moment that he’d been thoroughly brainwashed. He’s been watching matches with Dave and his dad for a while and has obviously been picking up the lingo. A while ago he said to me, “I don’t know why the players necks are always flopping about” – I looked at him in confusion and he said, “well Grandad’s always shouting ‘flopping neck’ at the TV when football’s on”. It took me a while…
Jemima is a bit ill. She doesn’t really do the snuggly and quiet type of ill, just the angry and whiney version. It’s a real treat.
I’m planning to continue the woman of my dreams series very soon, but ill kids seem to slow my brain down and writing isn’t flowing. I’m enjoying thinking it all through though and really appreciate the comments and emails you’ve shared with me.

Tiredness suits you – it makes you exceedingly witty!
I laughed out loud at Dan’s remark, and when I reported it to Steve, he spluttered coffee all down his front! (flopping’ ‘eck!)
Oh kids are just brilliantly naive! If my they stayed that way! Dan’s comment is perfect! Lucy also does the angry whiney ill thing! I’m feeling for you at the moment, and praying for God’s strength for you to get through the illnesses (and selfishly for me to get through ill times too)! Xxx
That was meant to say if only they stayed that way! iPad typing not so great today!
Alice, I’m 32 and I still do ‘angry, whiney poorly’…
Ha! I do wimpy, weepy!
oh I love the things kids say! Will always remember one of ours saying he had learned a really really bad word in the playground, when I finally got it out of him it was ‘scrap’!! Gotta love the sweetness! xx
