I’m pleased to be a guest at the Childrenswork Magazine blog. I’m writing about how having a child with additional needs affects our family and what sort of challenges that brings for churches. If you want to have a read click here.
If you’re here for a visit – welcome! You might want to read more about Mikey, find out about our approach to teaching our kids about Jesus (it’s an old post but not much has changed!), or catch up with a new series I’m doing on how the woman of my dreams has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare.
Since writing the guest post there has been some real progress for us at church – the last two times Mikey has been to church he has stayed for a large proportion of his Sunday club group! It’s amazing (actually it feels miraculous) and is largely due to the excellent team approach from our minister, the Sunday club leaders and a friend Lynn who knows lots about learning disability. They’ve really shown us their desire to help Mikey and us manage Sunday mornings better. I hope this offers some hope to those who are ready to give up and encourages leaders that they can make an enormous difference to families.
