Mikey wakes early so he plays in his room until we’re ready to face the day. He’s generally pretty content.
Behind his closed bedroom door he sets himself challenges. Sometimes it’s seeing whether he can demolish his bed (yes, he can), sometimes he tries to pile his toys as high as possible and sometimes, he does this:
Notice that it’s all vehicles except for a couple of megablox under the bed. Notice that they’re all facing the same way. For Mikey this is serious concentration and attention to detail. I felt pretty choked by his delicate preciseness. Sweet little thing.
He’s quite obsessive in lots of areas – fixated with flushing the loo, shutting doors, making sure his little lion toy is in the right position before bed, arranging his curtains ‘just so’. Control must be a beautiful thing when life feels like it’s imposed on you most of the time.
If you’re stuck for something to do tonight why not try this fun game? Match the toys (above) to the marks on Mikey’s wall (below). You may not have realised that if you throw a plastic toy hard enough against a painted wall, it colours the wall. Cool, eh? Thanks Mikey, you teach me new things all the time. Hmmm.

Love this boy!
Your delight/tenderness about this chokes me! Sometimes noticing small details in life holds the greatest moments of pleasure. Sometimes small things are such big things. I may be making sense only to myself!? Are you a super calm person? The wall scenario makes me think so!
Thanks for your vote for Wild Acre earrings btw!
Clever clever Mikey! xxx
I love how you love him in his Mikeyness. It’s a very beautiful thing.
